Yes you can upgrade at any time by filling out our upgrade form. It is free to upgrade and the only charge would be the price difference in the plan you upgrade to.

How does SomSite protect my website?

  • By default, we have set all servers to use the latest PHP 5.3 version with the latest security fixes.

How to rename my domain?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to rename a domain. You can only change/replace it with another domain name.

SomSite customers can do this following the instructions below:

1. Order a new domain.

2. Change the primary domain name of your account.

How to Configure Google Mail With Your SiteGround Domain

If you want to use Google Mail with your email accounts, hosted on SomSite, you can use the GMail functionality to fetch external accounts via POP3. To do this, please follow the easy steps below.

Incoming Mail Configuration

  1. Login to your Gmail Account.
  2. Choose Settings, from the Settings cog
  3. Click Accounts and Import
  4. Click Add a POP3 mail account you own
  5. Enter your Email address
  6. Click the Next button.
  7. Enter your full email address as the Username as me@domain.com
  8. Enter Password for your email account.
  9. Enter the POP Server: servername.com /cPanel -> Email Accounts -> More -> Configure Email Client/
  10. POP3 port: 995
  11. Username: the full email address
  12. Password: the password for this email account
  13. Always use a secure connection
  14. Click the Add Account button.

Outgoing Mail (SMTP)

  1. Choose Yes, I want to be able to send mail as me@domain.com
  2. Choose if you will use this address as an Alias.
  3. Choose to send Send through example.com SMTP server: domain.com
  4. SMTP port: 465
  5. Username: the full email address
  6. Password: the password for this email account
  7. Secured connection using SSL
  8. Click on Add account

POP3 and SMTP – What are The Differences

Both POP3 and SMTP are protocols for handling your email over the Internet. The difference between them is that the SMTP protocol handles sending new emails, while POP3 takes care of receiving emails.

What do I put for both incoming and outgoing mail server?

For both incoming and outgoing mail server put mail.yourdomain.com

How to protect my local mail client from spam?

All of SomSite servers use custom mail filters and algorithms to identify SPAM (unsolicited email).

This, combined with SpamAssassin, ensures that most unsolicited messages will be correctly identified as SPAM.

However, if you are using a local mail client such as MS Outlook or Outlook Express for managing your mails, it is a good idea to have an additional plugin to assist you with SPAM identification and prevention.

Norton Internet Security is a great antivirus software which offers additional plugins for fighting SPAM. Once you have Norton Internet Security installed on your computer, we recommend you to use this free add-on for it. The add-on offers antispam control and confidential information blocking. It will certainly reduce the number of unsolicited messages you receive and help you manage your mail security better.

How to forward one email address to several others?

To forward email messages from one email address to several other addresses, you should create email forwarders for each address.

In cPanel you can create email forwarders from the Mail section > Forwarders.

For example, if you wish info@yourdomain.com to redirect to both john@yourdomain.com andmike@yourdomain.com, you should add the following forwarders:

info@yourdomain.com to john@yourdomain.com
info@yourdomain.com to mike@yourdomain.com

Note that you don’t need to create an email account for info@yourdomain.com; the forwarders will work even if the mailbox does not exist.

Of course, if you wish to receive mail at info@yourdomain.com, you will have to create the account.
